The basement walls consist of a 5 foot tall and 12 inch thick unreinforced <br /> � brick wall that serves as both foundation wall and basement retaining wall. The basement wall <br /> becomes an 8 inch thick wall for a 2 foot section above the 12 inch thick section as shown on <br /> IPlate 2 -Basement Wall end Slab Section. <br /> , We understand that Mr. Walt�r Giilette- the oavner of the house intends to romodel the house <br /> with a new basement wall outside of the existing brick foundation wall and dapen the basement <br /> by 4 inches to 3 feet below the existing grades. From sketches provided b}�the project erchitect <br /> � Mr. Douglas Hamiam, we also understand that additions to the house include a new front porch, <br /> and additions to the basement and first floor plans, as shown on the Site Plan, Foundation Plan, <br /> Main Floor Plan, and Basement Plan that were provided to us. <br /> I2. Site Description <br /> The site is located on the east side of Grand Avenue and on the north side of 18�' Street. The lot <br /> is relatively level and slightly higher than Grand Avenue and 18°i Street. <br /> To the west of the house is a na�row park and the bluff above the Buriington Northem Railroad <br /> tracks.
