The additional fire load represented by the
construction of the many individual vendor shops and the adOlt,innal life
safety risk involved When the occupant load jumps as it has, require a long
`a_1 .'.!nk by -hc 71rr. Preventi,r B•rna.
The first consideration is whether or not the structure can discharge its
occupants quickly and safely. Much work needs be done in this area.
the second is the ability of the structure to resist a fire's onslought. This
whole building is of combustible construction with the exception of exterior
walls. There is no resistiveness of construction. It is quite possible that
an interior fire could overwhelm the existing sprinkler system and consume the
building.
It becomes necessary to maintain the strictest vigilance in a fire prevention
program. Every precaution must be taken to insure a fire does not start or
that if it does, that it has l u tie chance to speau.
With this in mind, the requirements listei below deal with the overall
operation of the structure. Problems within individual areas will be dealt
with individually. You will receive copies of any correspondence sent to them.
I. Sprinkler System
1. Remove those items obstructing access to the sprinkler control
valve and maintain a minimum three (3) foot clear area to and
around the control valve.
2. Provide adequate illumination for the valve room.
3. Provide a supply of extra sprinkler heads (per enclosed
schedule), a sprinkler wrench and a cabinet for the storage of
same.
