IV. Flame Spread <br />All storefronts of combustible wood mate ial must be treated with an <br />appruved fire retardant treatment. All h'ghly combustible <br />decorative materials must likewise have an approved fire retardant <br />treatment. <br />This would include, but not be limited to, items such as cotton <br />batting, dry leaves or other natural vegetation, draperies, <br />tapestries, etc., etc. <br />V. Portable Fire Protection <br />1. Each floor must have a minimum of four (4) 2A-10BC U.L. rated <br />fire extinguishers. <br />2. They must be within 75 feet of travel of any point on each <br />f tc c': <br />3. They must be mounted at a maximum of five (5) feet to the top <br />of the extinguisher. <br />4. They must be easily visible, or, if not, must be conspicuously <br />marked showing their location. <br />VI. Furnace Room <br />The furnace room must be enclosed in a minimum U.L. rated one (1) <br />hour enclosure. This must be done in accordance with the Uniform <br />Mechanical Code under permit from the City of Everett Building <br />Department (259-8745). <br />VII. Housekeeping <br />All unnecessary combustibles must be removed regularly. Combustible <br />waste materials must be removed daily. Storage of combustible waste <br />materials must be in covered metal containers. This problem is <br />especially bad in the basement area. Many of these combustibles <br />have been in the basement for many years. Storage of those <br />materials that must be retained must be in an orderly fashion. This <br />office will enforce housekeeping requirements strictly. <br />VIII. Flammable Liquids <br />A permit is required for storage of five (5) gallons or more of <br />flammable liquids. Storage is limited to the amounts needed for <br />maintenance of the building. Amounts in excess of ten (10) gallons <br />must be stored in an -approved storage cabinet. Individual vendors <br />handling, storing or using flammable liquids must also obtain <br />permits and must be inspected prior to beginning operation. <br />
