Consuuction Co., Inc.
4828 W Glenhaven Drive
Everett, WA 98203
Attn: Mr. Steve Jones
Re: Report—Geotechnicallnvestigation
Rdocation of Fisher Residence
4129 Grand Avenue
Everett, WA
Westem Geotechnical Consultants, Inc., is pleased to present the results of our
geotechnical investigation conducted at the above roferenced property. On 7uly 6, 2000, a
geotxhnical engineer from our firm vaveled to the site to oversee the excavation of 2 test
pits at the proposed site for the relocation of the Fisher Residence.
Steve Jones provided us with a site plan and structural foundation drawings for the house.
The fouse is a one-story, wood-&ame structure that will be relocated from 4120 Terrace
Drive to the referenced property. The attached site plan shows that the house is roughly
18 feet by 26 feet. Based on the initial foundation drawings, the structural loads for the
relocated house were designed to be supported on continuous footings tied into a floating
slab. We understand the loads on the continuous footings are on the order of 500 pounds
per lineal foot.
The property is known to be a peat bog. The purpose of our investigation was therefore to
evaluate the depth and condition of bearing soils below the peat at the location of the
house, and to provide geotechnical recommendations for the desgn a -.;;*.;-tion of
the foundation. The scope of our services included evaluating the s. ' co;diti n in 2 test
pits excavated at the site; performing engineering analyses, as deem; ..,,. ^s ry in
developing ..ur conclusions and rewmmendations; and preparing this eng neering report.
The report includes a summary of work perfortned, a description of the suisurface
wnditions encountered, and our conctusions and recommendations regardir;g foundetion
support for the house, as well as other geotechnical issues affecting the project.
SITE CONDITIONS
Surface Conditions
The property is relatively flat. There are some trees on the property and a house near the
easterly property line that was to be demolished at the time of our site visit. The Fisher
residence will be relocated near the middle of the property.
