Investigation
Relocsdon of Fisher Refdence
4129 Gnnd Avenue
Everett, WA
Jul
Westem Geotechaieal Consultants, Inc. is pleased to prescnt these supplemental
recomatendatioaa for the foundation design of the Fisher Residence, as requested.
The atiuctural loading has been determined by Johnson Consultants, the strucwral
engineer, to be on the order of 950 pounds pu lineal foot for the continuotu wall
footinga. Our original report, dated luly 14, 2000, indicatcd a ettuctural loading on the
order of S00 pounds pu square foot. A,v suted in that report, the praaence of very soft
Peat soils at the property require the footings to be supponed on pius extending into
Sandy soils encountered beneath the Peat layer.
z n:.

In order to accommodate the increased loading, we recommend that each of the picrs be
founded on a quazry spa►I pad placed in the Send layer. For a pad with minimum
dimensions of 2 feet by 2 feet and a minimum thickness of t foot, an allowable bearing
capacity of 2500 pounds pe square foot may be assumed. This cocresponds to a
maximum lo4d of 10,000 pounds per pier for piers placed 10 foot on centets. These
recommendations supersede the pier design capeciry rewmmendations from our original
report.
Other recommendations &om the Juiy 14, 2000 report still apply. As indicaced ip the
report, we should be pravent at the begipuing of fhe constrnction to verify soil conditions
and our dcsign aesumptions, as well as inspect the pier installation. IF you have any
questions regading the contents of this repart, or if we caa be of further assistance,
please contact our office. rr-".te
Sincerely,
Western G. eehnical naultanh, Inc.
.'~
Theodore A.
