' Geolechnical Engineering Evaluation <br />Anderson Landslide Repairs <br />4704 Harbor lane <br />Everett, Washington <br />September 15, 2009 <br />NGA Pile No. 816909 <br />Page 6 <br />Borings 2 and 3, we encountered light brown to brown -gray, silty fine sand to fine sand with silt and <br />varying amounts of gravel and iron -oxide staining. Borings 2 and 3 were both tenninated in the sand with <br />silt at a depth of 31.5 feet below the existing ground surface. <br />Boring 4 was drilled within the upper backyard area behind the residence. At the surface, we encountered <br />approximately 7.0 feet of medium dense, brown and gray -brown, fine sand with silt and roots. We <br />interpreted this material to be fill. Below the fill, we generally encountered approximately 8.0 feet of <br />medium dense, brown -gray, fine to medium sand with silt, with a layer of brown -gray silt, interpreted to <br />be native glacial soil. This sand with silt material was underlain by medium dense to dense, brown -gray, <br />fine to medium sand. Boring 4 was tenninated in the sand at a depth of 31.5 feet below the existing <br />ground surfitce. <br />Boring 5 was drilled in front of the residence. Below approximately 4.0 feet of medium dense, brown <br />silty fine sand interpreted to be fill, we encountered approximately 3.0 feet of medium dense, orange - <br />gray, fine sand with iron -oxide staining. We interpreted this material to be native outwash. Below the <br />sand, we cncountered approximately 10.0 feet of very stiff to hard, gray to brown silt with fine sand and <br />ennd layers. Below the silt, we encountered approximately 5.0 feet of very dense, brown -gray fine to <br />medium sand with silt grading into fine to medium sand. Boring 5 we tenninated in the sand at a depth of <br />27.5 feet below the existing ground surface. <br />lNand Auerrc: Hand Augers I, 2, and 3 were located on the slope within the landslide area. At the surface <br />of all of the hand augers, we encountered approximately 1.0 to 2.5 feet of loose, brown -gray, silty fine to <br />Imedium sand to fine sand with silt with varying amounts of gravel and cobbles. We interpreted this <br />material as landslide debris. Below the landslide debris, we encountered dense, brown -gray, silty tine <br />l sand, to fine to coarse sand with silt and varying amounts of gravel. We interpreted this material as native <br />l glacial soil. Hand Auger I was tenninated in the silty sand at a depth of 7.0 feet, and band Auger 2 was <br />terminated in the fine to coarse sand with silt at a depth of 7.0 feet below the existing ground surface. <br />Below the fine to coarse sand in Band Auger 3, we encountered very stiff to hard, blue -gray silt with fine <br />sand.
