1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Wet(and Resources, Inc. completed a site investigation on August 26, 2009, to
evaluate potential mitigation requirements relating to the tree removal and a
landslide in the City of Everett, WA. This site Is further located as part of Section 35,
Township 29N, Range 4E, W.M.
Access to this site is from the east via Harbor Lane. On -site vegetation is a
combination of non -mature forest, dense Himalayan bzckberry, and domestic
landscaping. No vegetation is currently growing in the landslide path. The site has a
steep northwest aspect on the northwestern portion of the site and a moderate
northwest aspect on its eastern portion. A single-family residence and associated
Improvements are located on the eastern portion of the site.
The Merrill and Ring Creek system is located off -site to the northwest of the site. A
detailed wetlands and streams investigation was not evaluated as part of this
Investigation. Nelson Geotechnical, Inc. prepared a Geotechnical Engineering
Evaluation identifying landslide and erosion hazard areas and addressing the recent
slide activity on September 15, 2009,
Prior to the slide, the applicant had identified certain trees to be removed from the
geologically hazardous areas. It is my understanding that approximately 38 trees
Y;ere actually removed. In addition, the slide removed virtually all vegetation In its
path, both native and non-native. 1
As mitigation for the slideAnative trees will be planted in the tree cutting area and
native trees and shrubs wilt be planted throughout the restored slide impact area.
Invasive species will not be removed prior to installation of the mitigation plantings
due to the recommendations against vegetation removal in the geotechnical report.
1.1 PROJECT LOCATION
a..t A 41-i- a+j 4 ,,,eAeS 4-Ad
The subject site is located at 4704 Harbor Lane in the City of Everett, WAAThis sife is
further located as part of Section 35, Township 29N, Range 4E, W.M.
