Circular stairs may be used as
an exit providing the minimum width of run is not less than 10 inches
and the smaller radius is not less than twice the widtlt of the stairway."
The drawing submitted sliows treads that comply with Section 3305(d) "Sdinding
stairways." However the stair is a circular stair and not a winding stair.
A winding stair is only for turning a corner and not completely circular.
The language of the code is very clear with no exceptions. Every room
requires at least one conforming exit and the drawing submitted does not
comply as an exit. If the City were to allow an exception in this case and
someone were hurt in a fire, I think the City would Ue liable. I cannot
recommend permitting the use of this stair.
Sincerely,
' I
;<<;,'l j ,/iZ %
Thn li.
