Merrill Creek Operations Building
HK Secured Storage Floor Loading for Mobile File System
Community Transit Purchase Order No. CTRNS-0000007139
-- Otak Project No. 30123.027
Dear Dan:
At your request, we evaluated the existing floor structural system of the Merrill Creek
Operations building at the Human Resources Socured Storage area. We understand
that a new file storage system is being considered at this location and we were asked to
verify if the existing floor system is structurally adequate to support the specified
loading.
We have reviewed the building plans prepared by Lance Mueller 8c Associates provided
to us by Community Transit. The existing floor system consists of Steel Joists and 4-
inch floor slab on 20-gage metal deck. The structural plans specified that the floor was
designed for 100 pounds per square -foot of live load.
The proposed file storage system layout, Design 6159.3A, prepared by SNW, indicates
that the total estimated loading of the system is 94 pounds per square -foot, which is
slightly under the specified allowable live load for the floor. Based on our evaluation of
the structural floor system (i.e., floor slab on metal deck and steel joist framing) and the
information on the original building plans, it is our opinion that the floor is capable of
supporting a new file storage system as proposed.
Should you have further questions or need additional information, please call me at (206)
442-1380 or email me tit keoin.kim@otok.com.
Sincerely,
Ot Inc. `
Kevin Kim, PE, SE
Senior Project Manager
c: Project file 30123.027 - Otak
&rnrject\]ollpsol'JJ\Txak Yr nwr &r R.rUdminC n+r.lnms•1o256u.drv:
creativity. integrity. and skill ;;n:ngttening our communities perfmmirgexdtingwork • semngourclimts
