'Che purpose of these site isits would be to evaluate
the bioengineering [eatures and vegetation, and determine whether additional plantings were
ncessary. A brief lelter report would be submitted to the C ; of Everett following each of
the fall monitoring efforts• The projected level of effort is approximatel,v one ro lwo work
days per monitorirg period. The mor.itoring schedule is presented in Table 3.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Performance sWndards are proposed for the bioengineering elements of the pro;ect to
increase confidence in the stability of the design. Performance standards vary by the type of
soil bicengineering solution selected. The following inEormation outlines the performance
standard 'ny installation type.
LIVE FASCINES
A minimum oF 25 pereent of the individual cuttings must sprout within each individual
fascine during the first spring after installation. Meeting this standad would provide
confidence that sufficient root development would acur to provide long-term bank stability.
During the fall of the second year, 25 percent of the cuttings must still be alive in each
fascine. Averaging survival among fascines is not permissible.
LIVE STAKES
a
, k In those areas whete live stakes are intended to provide bank stability, 75 percent
survival at the densities outlined in the p1an5 is required at the end of the second year.
Initial installetion dersities will exceed the plan densities; therefore, the presence of small
scale mortality would tiot likely cause a failure of the performance standard.

ir
Y
M
16
w
e,_.y F_ ':».saei
6GL
