0.111111PAV".6 <br /> Resolution No. 5171 <br /> Whereas, the National League of Cities, an organization representing the largest number <br /> of cities since 1924, developed the Public Safety Crime Prevention Steering Committee to provide a <br /> forum for legislative members, through a collaborative effort, to address their individual community needs <br /> and concerns regarding public safety and crime prevention; and <br /> Whereas, Legislators as well as Everett City Council recognize the events of September 11, 2001 <br /> have made it clear the federal government must actively work with and assist local law enforcement <br /> agencies, often the 1st responders in cases of violence or terrorism in the complex nature involving all <br /> issues of Public Safety and Crime Prevention, and; <br /> Whereas, the Everett City Council believes it is paramount to provide the citizens of Everett the <br /> most advanced services in the area of public safety and crime prevention to a growing population in an <br /> expanding geographical area and; <br /> Whereas, the 40 members of the Public Safety Crime Prevention Steering Committee, the <br /> National League of Cities staff and the citizens of the City of Everett can benefit by witnessing state of <br /> the art technology such as the HAZMAT Command, Naval Station Everett, South Everett Police Precinct, <br /> SNOPAC Communications, and the new Everett Station, and; <br /> Whereas, the Everett City Council and Mayor Edward Hansen strongly support Council President <br /> Frank Anderson to host the Fall 2002 Public Safety Crime Prevention Steering Committee in the City of <br /> Everett, Washington for this vitally important legislative body consisting of members from all over the <br /> United States in a collaborative effort to develop measures to provide that public safety by utilizing the <br /> state of the art technology Everett has to offer; and <br /> Whereas, the City of Everett and the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce shall make available to <br /> this body of individuals the various businesses of the City of Everett through patronage of our local retail <br /> establishments <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR <br /> EDWARD HANSEN to extend the invitation to host the Fall 2002 National League of Cities, Public Safety <br /> Crime Prevention Steering Committee to insure the citizens of the City of Everett the most advanced in <br /> public safety and crime prevention through funding this important event in the amount of approximately <br /> $12,000.00. <br /> Council member introducing Resolution ,' .. �,, C z- , z <br /> 'Frank Anderson, Council President \. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this 20th day of March 02. <br /> /G14/14-0i 6" , / /---(-- cc„. <br /> 'd ,a H- t' 1- or Doug Campbell, Coun it Vice President <br /> „,..----- ---;__,!-7-- --e--- . <br /> ., ark j.�son, Co ncil member Arlan Hatloe, Council <br /> Ron Gipson, Council me er /,.0 .2b''''' ---7--Dale Pope, Counci ember <br /> ar777. , <br /> Bob Overstreet, Council member <br />
