According to this publication, the surficial so:l units at and in the <br /> vicinity of the subject site is mapped as Vashon Till (Qn)underlain Adv.nce Outwash(Q�. <br /> 77�c gcolog}• of the Puget Sound Lowland has been modified by the advance and retreat of <br /> scvcral glacicrs in the past and subsequent deposits and erosion. The letest glacier advanced to <br /> the Puget Sound Lowland is referred to as the Vushon Stade of the Praser Glaciation, which has <br /> occuacd during the later stages of the Pleistocene Epoch and retreated from the region some <br /> 14,500 years ago. <br /> The Vashon till soil unit is depositcd dimctly by glacial ice during the most cecent glacial period <br /> as it advanced ovcr an erodcd, irregular surfuce of older formations and sediments. It is a very <br /> dense mixture of unsoried clay, si(t, sand, grnvel, and scattered cobbles and boulders, often <br /> rcferrcd to:u "hard pan". The Vashon till over the top two to four feet is normally wesithered to a <br /> LIU & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />
