For most of
s, this will involve no change. For some staff who work part-time or use multiple commute modes, you may see a
light change in your parking charges or commute bonuses as a result of the new categories. In August, alternative
ommute bonuses and SOV (single occupancy vehicle) parking rates will increase for everyone.
ater this week, you'll receive a packet of information at home about changes to the commute bonus and SOV
arking charges, including a detailed table listing new bonus and parking rates by shift. Also Included will be a
ersonalized sheet outlining your current transportation information. Please take the time to review all this
(formation to see how the changes will affect you. If any of your transportation information has changed, please
!vise the form and send it to M1-2 by Jan. 27, 2005.
)ne of the tangible ways we can be good neighbors is by reducing single occupancy vehicle trips to work," says
DO Pat Hagan. "Our intent with these changes is to encourage more of us to use alternative commute modes as
ten as possible and to discourage more of us from driving alone to work."
iildren's offers one of the most generous alternative commuting programs in the state. Commute bonuses are
edited for bicycling, carpooling, motorcycling, telecommuting and walking. All of these bonuses will increase in
igust at the same rate as the SOV parkingcharge, which means that your alternative commute choices will directly
fset your SOV parking charges. Children's will continue to subsidize 100 percent of bus and vanpool fare. Even
ter the August rate increase, Children's parking rates will stili be below what is charged at other hospitals in
!attle. A detailed Q&A about these changes will be posted soon on the Commuter Services Web page on CHILD to
ow plenty of time for you to plan for these changes.
ter you have reviewed your packet of information and the Q&A, if you have questions regarding the rate increase,
lase contact Security and Transportation Director Jim Sawyer at jim.sawyer@seattlechildrens org or ext. 7-6213.
r questions regarding your commute options, contact Commuter Services via e-mail or ext. 7-1297.
:lizabeth Austen
Home I About Children's I DepArtments I Clinical Resources I Education & Development I Staff Resources I Polides & Procedures
0 1995-2004 CHRMC I Disdaimer I Contribute to CHILD I Site Coordinator Login
S
HZPW11.ft*WV4Wr4*r
1J/child/home/inhouse/articles/newyear brings_bonus and parking—rate—changes—for commuters.asp 1/4/2005
