But I must also put my personal desires aside and look at what is best for the community in the
long term. The hospital's argument it needs to build the cancer care facility adjacent to the
current critical care facility "due to excessive costs" is unsupported and in contradiction to
current site locations for other regional cancer care facilities as outpatient, standalone profit
centers. We want Providence to stay in Everett, but the present location is piecemeal and
detrimental to the desired long range goals of the City. Establish a granting site search
committee within the Economic Development Department and commence to locate suitable land
in which the Providence system can grow, and care for the health and wellbeing of the citizens of
this community. In the interim, the Hospital can lease land from the college for its short term
parking needs. Could a bond measure be passed to help facilitate this move? The hospital
relocation is an ideal candidate for some type of tax abatement.
It is the duty of every citizen in Washington to comment on issues vital to their existence. Thank
you for allowing me the opportunity to do so.
Sincerely,
C-Iij
Valerie Steel
2521 Grand Avenue
Everett, WA 98201
425-308-6052
8
