Bridge demolition and girder setting will require
full closure of 112th Street SE; therefore, eastbound and westbound detour routes are proposed. The majority
of the traffic will be directed onto state owned facilities, but the detour will require the use of two City of
Everett Roads, 112th St. SE and 7th Ave. SE. These detours will be required for 20 night closures. These
closures will be separated into 2 to 3 day work periods that will likely be spaced weeks or months apart. At
the present time, exact start and end dates of the detours are unknown. Construction is currently planned to
begin in the summer of 2006 and there are 496 working days included in the contract.
Another purpose of the Agreement is to reimburse the City for any additional maintenance and repairs
needed as a result of the detours.
City staff has participated with the bridge designers in developing adequate detour routes for the closure.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the Detour Agreement with Washington State Department of Transportation,
HRD 1-0338, for detour routes while the 112th Street SE & 1-5 Bridges are under construction.
I8
CF R.1.5 tlPr.....
