• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5099 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL <br /> IN SUPPORT OF THE WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE <br /> BECOMING AN ANCHOR TENANT OF THE EVERETT <br /> PUBLIC FACILITIES DISTRICT'S SPECIAL EVENTS CENTER <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett, Washington has adopted Ordinance <br /> No. 2511-01, effective April 10, 2001, determining that it is in the best interests of the <br /> City and its citizens to form a public facilities district to undertake, in conjunction with <br /> the City, the design, construction, operation, promotion and financing of a special events <br /> center that will promote economic development, provide needed public facilities to serve <br /> local and regional business, community, family entertainment, youth recreation and <br /> athletic organizations; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2511-01 created a Public Facilities District pursuant to Ch. <br /> 35.57 RCW known as the Everett Public Facilities District; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Public Facility District is actively moving <br /> forward in its Special Events Center development efforts; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an important component to achieving a <br /> financially viable Special Events Center is becoming the home of an experienced and <br /> financially strong anchor tenant; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Indoor Arena Feasibility Analysis produced by Brailsford & Dunlavey <br /> recommended that a minor league professional hockey franchise be secured as an anchor <br /> tenant for the Everett Special Events Center which recommendation was supported by the <br /> Citizen's Committee as well; and <br /> WHERAS, the Western Hockey League has expressed an interest in placing a minor <br /> league hockey franchise in the Everett Special Events Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a Western Hockey league franchised team <br /> which has the backing and support of a well run, highly professional league would <br /> benefit the Special Events Center and the City of Everett, and that a Western Hockey <br /> League franchise would make a very desirable anchor tenant for Everett's Public <br /> Facilities District's Special Events Center; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT THAT this Resolution expressing the Council's interest in and <br />
