.4 <br /> EG'ERETT <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4972 <br /> A RESOLUTION providing for the allocation and distribution of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds for the <br /> year 2001. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has imposed and collects annually a tax on Hotel and Motel <br /> accommodations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Revised Code of the State of Washington provides guidance and direction as to <br /> the use of these funds to promote tourism through community attractions and entertainment events; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee reviewed proposed uses of funds and accepted <br /> the proposed uses of the Hotel/Motel tax receipts set forth below; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council's Finance Committee has been charged with recommending <br /> to the full Council the use of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds, and recommends the uses set forth below; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and the Everett City Council Finance Committee <br /> have recommended funding support of a multi-purpose facility evaluation, including preliminary project <br /> analysis which encompasses studies of economic viability, design concepts, site selection, and on-site <br /> inspection of similar facilities, all in preparation for making a final feasibility recommendation to the Everett <br /> City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, in the future, if the arena project is approved, hotel/motel tax receipts would be used <br /> to undertake a long-range selection and booking process to assure a full season of shows and activities <br /> when the facility opens. Funds could also be directed toward a variety of other start-up activities and <br /> management costs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett and Snohomish County Hotel/Motel Managers Association has <br /> expressed strong support for the development of a multi-purpose arena facility; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett that the following <br /> distribution of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds be made in concert with the 2001 Budget of the City of Everett. <br /> Recipient Amount <br /> Multi-Purpose Facility $11., 00 <br /> Councilperson I oducing Resolution <br /> PASSED and APPROVED this 8th day of November, 2000. <br /> IDetic <br /> ouncil President <br />
