RESOLUTION NO. 4953 A Resolution authorizing a monetary contribution towards the completion of the Nippon Business Institute facilities at Everett Community College WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute is an important and effective educational program at Everett Community College as well as a local and international source of economic vitality for the City of Everett; and WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute is an educational venue that attracts significant foreign visitors and students to our City for both educational and exchange purposes, and many of the Japanese students attend as full-time students who invest the educational dollars in Everett; and WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute has completed extensive construction of Phases One and Two of its building program, which include a remodeled facility, Japanese cultural areas and meeting rooms; and WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute and Everett Community College have formally requested that the City assist in finishing this unique facility through a contribution of ten thousand dollars toward the third phase, which includes a Japanese garden estimated to cost two hundred thousand dollars; and WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute of Everett Community College is a public educational agency of the State of Washington which provides both educational and economic development benefits to the City and further supports the growth of local business and community members alike; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council has considered the request of Everett Community College and its Nippon Business Institute and has determined that the Institute makes valuable contributions to the quality of life and economic strength of our City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Everett City Council finds that the request of the college has merit and hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City
