RESOLUTION NO. 4953 <br /> A Resolution authorizing a monetary contribution towards the completion of the <br /> Nippon Business Institute facilities at Everett Community College <br /> WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute is an important and effective <br /> educational program at Everett Community College as well as a local and <br /> international source of economic vitality for the City of Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute is an educational venue that attracts <br /> significant foreign visitors and students to our City for both educational and <br /> exchange purposes, and many of the Japanese students attend as full-time <br /> students who invest the educational dollars in Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute has completed extensive construction <br /> of Phases One and Two of its building program, which include a remodeled <br /> facility, Japanese cultural areas and meeting rooms; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute and Everett Community College have <br /> formally requested that the City assist in finishing this unique facility through a <br /> contribution of ten thousand dollars toward the third phase, which includes a <br /> Japanese garden estimated to cost two hundred thousand dollars; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Nippon Business Institute of Everett Community College is a <br /> public educational agency of the State of Washington which provides both <br /> educational and economic development benefits to the City and further supports <br /> the growth of local business and community members alike; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council has considered the request of Everett <br /> Community College and its Nippon Business Institute and has determined that <br /> the Institute makes valuable contributions to the quality of life and economic <br /> strength of our City; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Everett City Council finds that <br /> the request of the college has merit and hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City <br />
