ePootal <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> 4916 TT <br /> A RESOLUTION for waiving the public bidding requirements and for the sole source purchase <br /> from Aeromix Systems Inc. of Minneapolis, Minnesota of 10 hp Tornado®Aspirator Aerators. <br /> WHEREAS, The Everett Water Pollution Control Facility lagoon system presents significant <br /> debris and grit handling challenges for aeration equipment which can result in very high <br /> maintenance and operations expenses; and <br /> WHEREAS,there are only two known vendors of low turbulence aspirator aerators; and <br /> WHEREAS, EWPCF has extensive experience with products of one vendor, which have <br /> performed poorly with high maintenance costs and time expenditure; and <br /> WHEREAS, such products have not met the City's technical requirements or requirements for <br /> reliability, durability and performance; and <br /> WHEREAS, EWPCF staff have pilot-tested Aeromix Tornado®aspirators and found their <br /> construction and performance better suited to the special needs of the EWPCF aeration pond <br /> application; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Tornado® aspirator's grease lubricated tapered roller bearing, which is isolated <br /> from the wastewater being mixed, is more durable and well suited for the EWPCF'a aeration <br /> pond application; and <br /> WHEREAS, Tornado® aerators' shaft to motor connection uses a readily available flexible <br /> coupling that is significantly less costly to replace than a specialized fabricated shaft coupling; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Tornado®aerators utilize a stainless steel float system, decreasing float <br /> maintenance requirements for corrosion control; and <br /> WHEREAS, Aeromix Systems Inc. of Minneapolis MN is the manufacturer and Goble Sampson <br /> Associates Inc. of Issaquah WA is the sole distributor of Aeromix Tornado®equipment in the <br /> Northwest region, <br />
