It is recommended <br /> that uhen the rain ceases and before pouring any concrete, that all <br /> water be collected in sumps away from the footing areas. <br /> The footinq arcas within the excavated foundation uere probed with a <br /> 1/2" diameter reinforcing rod. A visual inspection was also made of <br /> the sides of the excavation pit. Although the excavation appeared to <br /> be at the proper depth, several soft areas Nere evident as follows: � <br /> � <br /> 1. Southwest and northaest corners of the �pper (995) level. � <br /> Southerly portion of the uesterly footing (99 ) level. <br /> 2. Northeast corner and southeast corner of the louer (96�) level. <br /> ra �- <br /> 3. South uall 96� level. "� r <br /> H � <br /> � � <br /> No further excavation should be performed until the rains stop. <br /> I�ediately before pouring, existing steel should be removed and the <br /> unsatisfaetory material should be excavated to firm soil. Crushed � <br /> c <br /> rock or concrete should be placed to fill the newly excavated area. � <br /> Steel should then be rc—set and the remaining concrete should be <br /> poured. � � <br /> � :. <br /> An examination of the excavation banks indicated a variable material, � �' <br /> but the line of original soil Nas evident.
