Nutrifibre contain nutrients essential for plant growth and can be
beneficially reused.
In May of 2005 the City and Evergreen On-site entered into a Residuals Sales Agreement for reuse of the Nutrifibre.
In the Residual Sales Agreement,Kimberley—Clark was responsible for loading of trucks provided by Evergreen On-
site. At that time, the Riverside property was owned by Kimberley— Clark. The City recently acquired the Riverside
site.
Often,Kimberley-Clark's operator and loader are busy performing operations for Kimberley—Clark at Riverside and
cannot promptly load Evergreen's trucks. This can cause significant down time for Evergreen On-site and a reduction
in the number of loads hauled out. Loading of the Nutrifibre should be performed by Evergreen On-site to expedite
removal of the Nutrifibre from the Riverside site. The cost to have Evergreen On-Site perform the loading operations
will be $36,000 for the term of this contract.
Site conditions deteriorate rapidly during wet weather and make loading and hauling very difficult. Delays in loading
due to poor site conditions occurred last year. The original contract expires on September 30, 2006. To anticipate
delays due to wet weather, an additional 60 days is added to the contract duration. No added cost expected to extend
the term of this contract.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign Change Order#1 to the Residuals Sales Agreement with Series Seven Inc. DBA
Evergreen On-site for loading operations. 6 8
