On December 28,2005,City Council approved Change Order#1 in the amount
of$28,501.26(for bus additions,modifications,deletions and a change in bus"tools"ordered). In total,City Council has
approved$2,843,563.78 for the purchase of nine buses.
Change Order#2 is a.reconciling change order. The change order increases the cost to complete the bus acquisition project by
$5,580.00,bringing the total cost of the bus acquisition to an amount not to exceed of$2,849,143.78.
The reasons for this change order are as follows:
1)Accounts for a sales tax rate of 8.9%instead of 8.6%on the bus purchase part(i.e.tools remain at 8.6%). The additional three
tenths of one percent(0.3%)applies to motor vehicle purchases(including public transit buses)due to passage of Engrossed
Substitute House Bill(ESHB)2231 by the State Legislature in 2003(part of the"nickel gas tax package"). Transit has not
purchased a bus since the passage of ESHB 2231 and only assumed an 8.6%sales tax rate.
2)Accounts for formal deletion of a"toughbook"laptop computer used for maintenance diagnostics.
3)Rectifies an arithmetic error in calculating change order#1.
RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council):
Approval of Bid Number 2005-747 Change Order Number Two in the amount of$5,580.00.
56
