However, bacause we require a subbase for 265/277 volt
applications, we .lo not violate U.L. requireinents. U.L. requires
that when using 265/277 volts, the units are to be permanently
wired. They also say that when a subbase is used, thus concealing
the plug and receptacle, the units are, therefore, considered to be
permanently wired.
As far as tlie question of 2G5 volts versus 277 volts, we also meet
the U.L. requirements. We rate our units at 265 volts instead f
277 volts only because 265 volts is the utilization point for 277 volt
wiring. Actually, we are approved to plus or minus 10% of the
265 volt rating point. In other aords, our 265 volt PTAC equipment
could operate at voltages up to 291.5 volts.
Jim, I hope this helps you to convince your inspector that our units
are acceptable for your particular job. If you or your local inspector
have any questions, please feel free to call me or John Moore of U.L.
, John's number is (312) 272-8800.
/
.d V .
STEVE ANDERSON, PRODUCT SPECIALIST
PACKAGED PERIM[TER SYSTEht PRODUCTS
/fn
;i', ;•,
i.
. ;.'°.r-
 .. _-..'.
--r'.F'
 J
