1VATER RATE•S AYD RHGULATIONS <br />14.16.050 Standnrds and Cnancing for water distribution <br />systems. <br />A. This section sl�all govem the methods of tinancing distri- <br />bution system improvements, renewals and eztensions, and <br />specifying standaids for certain sizes and types of materials <br />for use by and in the ciry water systcm. <br />B. All new distribution system mains shall be constructed oC <br />materials and installed in ac�ordance with thz city standard <br />specifications conForming to die appropriate American <br />Water Works Association standard as detertnined by the <br />utilities superintendent. <br />C. The term "lateral line" or "lateral" is used in tliis chapter to <br />designate a distribution system pipeGne whicli inctudes fire <br />hydrants and service connections to adjacent propertyi'fhe <br />stand.rd minimum size of lateml Gnes shall be six inches in <br />diameter unless otherwise determined by the utilities super- <br />intendent. The location of ap new lines shall be determined <br />by the utilities superintenden[. <br />D. All new lateral lines shall be paid for by local improvement <br />district assessments or casli payments by customers desiring <br />water secvice. installation of new laterals shall include all <br />appurtenances required for a complete installation, such as <br />valves, fittings, Pue hydrants and lateral line extensions to <br />grid the system nnd thereby eliminate dead ends. • <br />E. All system improvement Gnes shall be paid from water <br />system funds as hereinaf'ter set forth: provided however, the <br />financial participation of the water system in any local im- <br />provement district shall be detertnined exclusiveiy by the <br />terms of the ordinrnces establishing tlie local improvement <br />district. The term "system improvement line" as used in this <br />chapter shall designate tliose feeder Gnes constructed for the <br />purpose ot improving tl�r distribution system as a whole or <br />in part as determined by the utilitics superintendent. <br />F. To the property benetited there shall be charged the cost oC <br />installing a water Gne including fite liydrants and appurten- <br />ances.
