These comments <br /> address building issues only, add�honal revisions or additions may be required by other departments <br /> (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1991 Uniform Building Code, as <br /> amended by the State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code 1991, 2nd Edition, unless <br /> stated otherwise. <br /> ✓t. Every required exit doorway shall be of a size to permit the installation of a 3'0" x 6'8" door. A <br /> � minimum clear width of 32 inches must be provided. Section 3304(�. Buildings or swctures <br /> used for human occupancy shall have at least one exterior exit door that meets the requirements of <br /> Section 3304(�, Section 3304(a). <br /> ✓2. A floor or landing not more than one inch ['h"] below the threshold is required on each side of an <br /> exit door. Secdon 3304(i). <br /> ✓3. The top of handrails are to be placed not less than 34 inches nor more than 38 inches above the <br /> nosing of treads. Section 3306(�). <br /> ✓4. Handrails pmjecting from a wall must have a space of not less than 1'h inches between the wall <br /> and the handrazl. Section 3306(i). <br /> �(�(0►/5. The handgrip portion of handrails shall be not less than I�/z inches nor more than 2 inches in <br /> ' cross secdonal d►mension or the shape should provide an equivalent gripping surface. The <br /> acceptability of equivalent shapes will be determmed by the building offictal. The handgrip <br /> portion shall have a smooth surface with no sharp corners. Section 3306(i). <br /> 6. Six feet-8 inch minimum headroom clearance for stairways is required. Section 3306(0). Note <br /> that this is measured vertically from a plane tangen[ to the stairway tread nosing. <br /> �/7. Handrails must have their ends retumed or terminate in newel posts or safety terminals. Secdon <br /> 3306(i). <br /> b� 8. Enclosed usable space under stairs must be protected on the enclosed side as required Yor 1-HR <br /> fire-resistive construction. Section 3306(1).
