. . . . <br /> (d)An ezhibit or displrry deprcting the history and characteristres ojrhe Donovan District wil!be included in new <br /> devefopment on Block 243. � <br /> In response to the recommendations of the Historical Commission and Planning Commission and the action I <br /> of the Everett Ciry Council, PEMC undertook extensive efforts to seek relocation of the houses from Block <br /> 248 and we are pleased to ;hare with you our efforts in regards to altemative options explore•� prior to this i <br /> request. For the past hvo years PEMC has been exploring the interest of numerous not-foo-profit �� <br /> organizations, housing agencies, and interested private citizens, as outlined in Exhibit B. PEMC's efforts <br /> have not gone unnoticed, as local and statewide media broadcasts have also aided in the efforts. Through <br /> careful coordination and exhaustive efforts, success has been achieved. [n cooperntion wid� 12'" Street <br /> PuRners, we have successfully relocated and preserved I I of 22 houses from Block 248. This represents <br /> 50% of the totul housing stock on this Block. Prior to the relocation of the 11 houses, CeRificates of <br /> Appropriateness were obtained through the City of Everett. All conditions outlined in the certificates were <br /> understood and became guidelines as paR of the relocation etForts. <br /> PEMC has complied and will continue to comply with the recommendations, conditions and standards <br /> detailed in Plunning Commission Resolution No. 2005-2 and its exhibits. A thorough photographic <br /> documentation of Block 248 in its entirety was completed prior to the beginning of any action taken on the <br /> block. Exterior and interior pictures were taken and compiled as part of this documentation, including <br /> streetscape and individual houses. Also, PEMC has retained items such as door knobs and light fixtures <br /> from the houses to be included in a display depicting the history and characteristics of the Donovan District <br /> which will be included in the development of the hospital's expansion. <br /> With the approval of Ordinunce No. 2850-OS by the Everett City Council, PEMC's expansion plans have <br /> begun. [n addition to preserving critical housing stock, we have also begun construction on a state-of-the- <br /> art cancer care facility. We are now excited to begin the work on the expansion of our Colby site, <br /> including replacement facilitics, necessary parking structures and appropriate landscaping features <br /> beginning ]anuary 2006, in conformance with our institutional overlay and as required by the Resolution <br /> referenced previously. In preparation for exp�nsion, we are requesting the necessary waivers to demolish <br /> thc remaining I I houses located on Block 248 to begin Janunry 1, 2006. <br /> Thank you in advance for your cooperation and continued support in helping to pave the way for the <br /> expansion of a world class medica� center for our community.
