. _--
 /
 . .
   , , I —
 O
OXAMATIC GARDEN LIGHTlNG BF LORAN, P.O. BOX 9/l, REDLANDS, CAL. ,
October 14, 1965
Mr. Dorety, ELecCrical Inspector
City of Everett
City Hall
Everett, Washington
Dear Mr. Doret::
I certainly appreciated the opporcunity of talking to you by phone sir,
and I can well appreciate and understand Lhe position tliat you had to take
regarding the Casady Funeral Home project.
I have asked our agent Mr. Jack Sohns of Norwest Company Inc., P.O. Box
1850, 210 North 36th, Seattle Washingtor., telephone 206-633-3232, to not
only drop you our handbook and manual on NIGHTSCAPING, but also ca11 and
see you personally witliin the next two weeks.
Mr. Dorety, I am sure as you glance through the handbook and manual both
you will see how closely we try and guide our qualified electrical con-
tractors to working with good construction practices and good electrical
inspection relations and above all how we stress safety. The idea of
using the stem for our concealed splice box or junction box is one that we
have patented and it is certainly giving us an edge on all our competitors
that advocate that since it is only 12 volts it can be a running splice
burried in the ground. This you and I botli know, is not proper, As far
as making the equipments semi-vandalproof, we both again know tliat nothing
is completely vandalproof. A piece of redwood can be burried and a 16
penney spike driven through the fixture spike into the redwood, or con-
crete can be placed around the present spike of the fixture. Incidentally,
this I strongly recommend, Or, a conduit elbow c::n be used and burried.
The reason I rather preEer putting the concre[e sround the spike as pro-
tection, not only from electrical and machanical damage and vandalism but
also this encourages the conlractor to be sure ha has a good electrical
connection before lie pours tlie concrete. A Litt.le psychology; sr bue
it works miracles,
If you find any questions left unanswered or not to your satisfaction,
please either call Mr. Sohns or myself. Again Mr. Dorety, I am cer-
tainly sorry chat you were bothered with this problem.
Sincerely yours,
LORAN INC.
,Jc.Clc.a» C.Lcirv
WJL:lh William J. ocklin
cc Jack Sohns President
Shipping Address: Fitth and Walnut, Telephone: Arca Code 714; 793-2881
