The site is located near the intersection of Olive Street and Temple Drive in the City of
Everett. We Have been provided a site plan drawn by Kegel & Associates Inc,, dated June 1990. We
understand that you wish to construct rookeries to level out the back yard area. A higher rockery was
planned near the back property line using reinforced All to help support the yard fill. This rookery was on
the order of 3 to 4 fbet in height bef a it was determined that a wall over 4 feet in height could not be
constructed adjacent to the property line, according to City of Everett building codes, We have developed a
rockery plan that has a "stepped" system of walls, with the second tier being act back 20 feu Aom the back
property line. Both sets of rockeries will be no more than 4 feet in height.
We have reviewed the geometry and site soil conditions in our evaluation of the rookeries. It is our opinion
that rockeries of this height are suited to this site provided that they Ore properly constructed. This includes
compaction of the fill placed within one rockery height behind the wail to 90 percept of its dry deruity, as
determined by the ASTM D 1557 compaction test prootdure, The minimum base rock should be sized so
that it extends 2 fbet into the slope. We have drawn A site plan, a cross-section through the site and a
typical cross-section of it rockery to be used for this project, and have attached them to this letter. Except
10r the specifications stated in this fetter, the rockeries should be constructed in accordance with the
guidelines published by the Association of Rockery Contractors (ARC).
