We observed the contractor install three pin piles today. Two of the piles were battered at approzimately 15 degrees and one was driven veRically. The approzimate pile locadons are shown on the attached site plan. The pin pile depths, penetradon during the last 20 seconds of driving, and degee of batter are shown on the attact�ed table. The pi� piles were driven with a 1,100 ft;b hammer (Teledyne TB 425). 4inch diameter steel pipes sections up to 21 feet long were used and coupled with slip couplers. The piles werc driven until a refusal criteria of up to 1 inch of penetration d�uing 20 seconds of driving was attained. We also evaluated foundation subgrade along Gridline7 (see site plan). We ezcavated one hand hole at the northem end of this gridline and one hand hole at the southem end. We found that at the northern end had about 3 to 4 feet of f Il on top of the native. The so�them end had about 1 foot of fill on top of the native. Based on our observations, it is our recommendation, that the fill be removed and CDF be placed at least a foot into the native, dense material. Since the native material is sloping down, wo recommend cceating level benches in the native material beforo pourinf; ehe CDF. We should be retained to observe the excavation p:ior to pouring CDF. Based on our observations. it is our opinion ihat t6e three pin pila observed todaY 1�ave baen installed in accordanx with our iecommeadationa, and ahould pmvide t6e planned !0 tons of supprnre.
