Nashinguur
00-02-20
the slope along the northern side of the property down into the base of' the house or into the adjacent
ravine area should be located so that they drop directly down the fall line of the slope. These utilities may
need to be anchored to the slope by U-shaped 94 rebar driven a minimum 18" into the slope.
We recommend that all utility backtill consist of clean, granular structural fill placed per the
recommendations contained in NO lion 4.3, Structural Fill, of this report or other as approved by GES,
Inc. at the time of construction
4.6 Foundation Placement and Design Recommendations
We recommend that all foundation loads be carried upon undisturbed or slightly weathered Transitional
Bed (Q1b) soil found at an approximate base elevation of el. 172.5 during our site investigation. Based on
our site investigation, we believe that it is possible that these bearing soils will rise in elevation to the
west and south as the overlying uncontrolled fill materials are removed from within the building envelop
excavation area. However, this is unknown and will have to be confirmed by GES, Inc. during foundation
excavation. Foundation excavation should carefully follow all pertinent recommendations contained in
section 4.4 Cuts and Excavations of this report.
Transitional Bed (()Ih) soil is described as gray brown, slightly mottled, somewhat massive, very fine- to
medium -grained sandy silt to silt with occasional lenses of fine-grained sand. Do too higher than
acceptable differential seltlement potentials, we recommend that building foundations not be supported
upon the overlying uncontrolled till that covers a significant portion of this site. All foundation elements
should be supported upon Transitional lied (UIh) and/or Controlled Density Fill (CDF) if the CDF
extends a oliniMUm G" beyond foundation elements in all directions. In some instances, especially where
ground water seepage has been encountered, foundation elements may be supported upon 2"4" crushed
rock. The crushed rock must extend a minimum 18- beyond foundation elements in all directions. In all
instances GES, Inc. should confirm bearing Soil fin foundation support and where necessary, confirm
with the contractor the type of fill to be placed and used for foundation support in each different
foundation area. Non compliance with this recommendation could result in the removal of the fill and its
replacement under controlled conditions upon confirmation by GES, Inc. If building elevations change
12 (TES, Inc.
