Addendum to Geologic Investigation and Georechnical F_neineerinz Report 04-08-10
Proposed Single Runily Residence
NE Comer 35" St. and Nassau SL, Everett, ML
differences in composition and by poorly developed top soil/vegetation horizons. We were als-) able to
delineated the depth of the fill within the proposed foundation area.
Three items were [toted within these new excavations that may be somewha critical to the development
of the site. First, we noted that the fill ;within the test pit excavations remained standing and did not
slough when exposed in the test pit sidewalls. This should help facilitate the safe removal of the materials
during foundation excavation. Second, the fill consistei of silty sand to sandy silt with occasional layers
of deleterious materials located primarily four to six-(6) feet below the existing ground surface and at the
contact between the fill and the natural soil. This will make it easier to separate the useable portions of
the fill from those that are undesireable for reuse. Thirdly, there was no seepage noted coming out of the
test pit sidewalls at the time of our site investigation.
Based on the above noted additional information, the Conclusion and Recommendations Section of the
site Geologic Investigation and Geotechnical EneineerinZ Report referred to as the Geotechnical Rcport,
should be amended as follows:
4.1 Seasonal Working Conditions
The reconnnendations contained in the Geotechnical Report are valid with this addition — site
development work may take place during any time of the year. If site preparation work takes place during
extend periods of wet weather, the cautions given in the geoteclinical report should be heeded and all
appropriate recommendations carefully followed.
4.2 Site Preparation
The reconnnendations contained in the Geotechnical Report are valid ivith this addition — rough grading
of the building envelop will involve the removal of uncontrolled fill down to undisturbed natural soil.
This will require the removal of up to 18 ft. of uncontrolled fill over a portion of the site and the
exvavation of saturated, peaty soils from the lower elevations of the site. Side slopes as well as the rest of
the site should be temporarily graded following the recommendations contained in section 4.4 of this
report. Access in and out of the site should be limited to one point to help with erosion control and the
tracking of dirt and mud off site by trucks and equipment. Again, care needs to be taken to ensure that the
residence that is topographically lower and north of the site is not impacted (by rolling debris, nit off, etc)
during site preparation and development.
3 GES, Inc.
