NARRATIVE STATEMENT: I4e are asking a variance to accommodate the conditions of the accomp- anying Site plan as prepared by R.T.King, architect; specifically the req+iest for rear yard variance from reauired 2G' to that of 18'. I just recently acqu�red the house from the mortgagor �aho had to re- possess the propezcy from the previous and original builder. in so doing 2 have had to assume the problems creat2d by the original builder who either did not understand '�he problems that faced him or did not have the expertise to solve these problems. In any event, the house foundation is not exactly nlaced upon the site as it sould have been and it would be very difficult to move the house and its foundation at this time; almost impossible, and certainly economically infeasible to do so. The h�use has been sitting for sone time in a very unsatisfactory state of incompletion; an eyesore to all of the ,.eighbors. It would be much better for everone concerned to allow the minimal variance request than to let the house continue to set anfinished or to pay some one to demolish it. The site has a considerable slope towards the Southwest and presents a spectacular view of Puget Sound. The house is well sighted and will be a great asset to the neighbors once it is complete. The somewhat larger decks which extend a few feet beyond those oriqinally designed are needed due to the fact the much of the site is oE steep grade and its use impractical f.or outdoor family use; other than landscaping features. The original designer did not pay attention to the requirements for window washinR capabilities as the upper floor windocas are about 34 feet above the lowest grade on the T.9est. I do not consider this variance to be anything exceptional or special; but necessary to allow me to solve some otherwise unsolvable problems.
