RundgWst, PE
RE: 1921 Muldlteo Boulevard
Building Setback Recommendations
Everett, Washington
NGA Pile No. 823310
This mcmomndum documents our recommendations regarding the building setbacks for the planned Kure
residence project at 1921 MukUteo Boulevard in Everett, Washington. We prepared a gcotcchnical
engineering report for the site dated October 20, 2005.
Based upon the conditions observed at the site, the site slope is considered stable with respect to deep-
seated failures. However, there is a potential for shallow sloughing and erosion events to occur on the
steeper portions of the slope. We recommended that the residence foundations be designed to provide an
effective setback of at least 35 feet from the top of the steep slope. We also recommend that a light
structure setback of 25 feet from the top of the steep slope be established for lightly loaded structures such
as the porch roof columns and the small landscaping walls that are planned along the north side of the
residence. The northern footing line of the residence, the porch columns, and the landscaping walls should
be supported on medium dense or better native soil at least three feet below the finished ground surface.
Our explorations indicated that the competent native soil might be encountered at approximately five feet
below grade at the time of our site work.
EndE-+-E-
