The 811 wedge was located beneath de
deck, and did not appear to serva any significant fiuktion.
The proposed remadel of the home will include consQuction of a second story above the exisdng
first story, addition of a new stairwell on the eaat side of t6e howe, small edditions W the aouth side of
the house, and larger additions that exteni up to approximately 15 feet north of We existing north
building lina Sq , od for new fowdations will be provided by shallow concrete apread and wall
footings. The lower level floor will either be slab-on-grade or structurally supported timber with crawl
space below.
•  1; :  . Y():'I
The site condidons wero evaluated for this study on Febniary 11, 1997. Surface, subsurface, and
groundwater conditions nre discussed below. The subsurface explorations perfo for this study
consisted of three auger borings, B-1 through B-3, ranging in depth from appronately 8'h fat to 13
feet. The approximate boring locations are indicated on the Srfe and Ezp/oratlon Plan (Figwe 1)
enclosed in Appendix B. The subsurface conditions described i+elow Mave been simplified for eaae of
rcport interpretation. Copies of the boring logs (Records of Subsurface Exploration) and a dexription
of field procedurrs are enclosed in Appendix C and should be consulted for a more detailed description
of the conditions encountered.
.. , , ,
7'he three borings advanced for this evaluadon encountered a surficial layer of loose, moist w
sahuated, fine to medium sand intepreted as filt, in depths ranging from approximately 4 to 7 fat The
fill was underlain by firm to very dense fine to medium send with varying gravel intepreted as over
consolidated glacial deposits.
Published sourc;es of geologic infocmation for the site reviewed during this study include the
United States Department of Agriculturc Soil Cdnservation Service (SCS) soil survey for Snohomish
County, Washington, maps and the United States Geological Snrvey (USGS) Miscellaneous Field
