FF Development LP <br /> December 1,2006 <br /> Page 2 <br /> reports has been provided to you during construction and also has been fonvarded to the on-site FF <br /> Development Construction office. <br /> FILL MATERIAL EVALUATiON AND REQUIRED COMPACTION <br /> On-site soils were used as fill and backfill at the site. We evaluated fill placement activities within the <br /> 1'od 2 area where auilding Nos. 10 and 15 are located during the mass grading period on 7 occasions <br /> between July 19, and July 28, 2005 (refer ta field report Nos. 24 thmugh 31). We also completed 1 site <br /> visit on August 3, 2005 (refer to field report No. 35) to evaluate compaction of the fill placed within <br /> building No. 10 in the Pod 2 area. <br /> We evaluated the fill soil by perfortning laboratory testing that generally consisted of maximum dry <br /> density (MDD) evaluations per American Sociery for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D1557 testing <br /> procedure. The fill used within the building footprint area, generally consisted of the on-site glacial till <br /> and advance outwash soils. <br /> We evaluated the compaction of fill by observing placement procedures, by perfortning in-place density <br /> tests and 6y probing with a %,-inch diameter probe rod. Fill was generally compacted to at least <br /> 95 percent of the MDD in areas beneath Building Nos. 10 and I S during the mass grading period. <br /> Bazed on our observations and evaluations, it is our opinion that the fill placed within the footprint of <br /> Building Nos. 10 and 15 during the mass grading period were compacted in general accordance with our <br /> recommendations and the project plans and specifications. <br /> SOIL BEARING VERIFICATION <br /> Bullding Nos. 10, 12 through 15 <br /> We evaluated the footing subgrade soils at Duilding Nos. 10 and 12 through 15 and verified soil bearing <br /> on 12 occasions between September 6, 2005 and May 10, 2006 (refer to field report Nos. 57, 58, 67, 76, <br /> I 12, I 14, 1 I5, 125, 126, 136, 139 and 140). We also evaluated the backfill placed to support the upper <br /> building slab for building Nos 10 and 12 through IS on 13 occasions between November 18, 2005 and <br /> April 27, 2006 (refer to field report Nos. 93 through 97, 101, Ip2, 127, 129, 130, 132, 133, and 137). <br /> Based on our evaluation,the footing subgrade soils were firtn and the backfill placed are compacted to at <br /> least 95 peroent of MDD. <br /> Based on our observations, it is our opinion that soil bearing pressure of 2,500 psf was achieved in the <br /> footing subgrade of Building Nos. 10 and 12 through I S and the slab subgrade was prepared in general <br /> accordance with our recommendations and the project plans and specifications. <br /> We trust Ihis Ietter meets your current needs and provides the necessary information for the certificate of <br /> occupancy for Building Nos. 10 and 12 through I5.
