It is our underscanding that this wns the result of a borrow operation. Very steep
bluffs comprised of dll and/or advance outwash were left in seveial areas, as mazked on !
IFiguce 1. They ra8e in height fmm 10 w 40 feet•
It appears that some portions of the borrow pit were bacllled with soil and organic debris
Isuch as stumps. While it is difficult to ascertain tt►e lwundaries of the 811 areas, they aie
shown appmzimately on Figure 1. The density of the fill materials is not known• O►►IY the (
Ilarger amas of fllled land identifiable by wpoBraPhic expcession and acposue have been i
shown; smaller 811s likely acist in the area. I
I
I6,p []SSURFACE EXPi ORATIONS
Subsurface conditions at the wp of the subject site were uplored by drilling 5 borings (B-1
Ithmugh B-5) and excavating 21 test pits (TP-1 through 'IP-21) at the locations shown on
Figurc 1. The locations of most of the borings and test pits were staked in the 6eld by
, surveying by 'hiad Associates• W1ece necessiry, some of the locations were changed in the
field by our repesentaUve and t1►r, new locadons were taped off or paced fmm the nearest
stake; these locadons should be considered approaimate. Elevations of explorations, as
note on the boring and test pit logs in Appendiz A, were estimated from 2-foot contour
I maps prwided by 'IYiad Associates. Observadon wells were installed in borings B-4 and
I B-5 to moniWr groundNater levels. The drilling and test pit procednres are Pesented in
Appendix A. The boring logs arc pnesented on Figures A-1 through A 5, and the test pit
Ilogs are presented on Figures A 6 through A 26 in Appendix A.
( All samples retrieved from the borings and test pits were classified in the field, sealed in jazs,
and returned to our labocatory in Seattle for further evaluadon and tesdng. The test proceduces
Iand results are presented in Appendix B.
l
I W-6693-01
6
