M2''^View Drive
Everett, W
425-252-41.
Subject: Pole Building Permit 80803-014—Foundation Options
As requested I have reviewed your situation where your groundwater Ievei is higher than the bottom of
the post holes. There are a number of oplions to pour the concrete in the holes with the water there.
This is a fairiy common probtem especially with dock construction.
The method we discussed to be used in this case is as follows:
1. Clean the holes out of mud and water.
2. Place 6-12"of Kwikcrete dry in the bottom oi the hole.
3. Place the poles so they will have at least 3'of the pole in the remaining concrete up to grade.
4. Remove as much water as possible before pouring lhe concrete around the poles.
5. Pour the concrete in one mass from one location to fill lhe hole while pushing the water out of
the hole. Do not mix the concrete with the water but pour the concrete fairly stiH so it will stay
as one mass so it will push the water out of the hole. Some cement will come out with the
water but the strength of the concrete will be adequate to transfer the load to the surrounding
soil.
I hope this adequately addresses this issue(or the inspector. If you have any further questions or I can
be of any(urther assistance please call me at lhe above numbers.
PAO D. ,y ',
\V1` op ws ,ticcocn
Q' . ,
. l ( ' tr Z q
/ pd'S fG S7EPG IJ \'' rL,
' D
j S/ONALE t.11Iv
ocPiResz•aob APk 1 R L'8
Ci1'Y OF EJERETT
Rick Heide, P.E.
