Present were John Bronson avid Phil from Les Schwab Tires, Sam Preston and Bruce Hansen from EFO. The three items listed in U1 of our letter of November 18, 1987 we-9 discussed: 1. I explained to the representatives from Les Schwab Tires that a sprinkler system is required when adequate access to basements (UBC 3802, 1965 Ed.) is not provided. 2. I explained also that occupied basements require two (2) exits. 3. I also explained that openings between more than two (2) adjoining floors are not allowed. In this instance, the elevator shaft is open from the basement to the second floor. Enclosing the basement accesss to the elevator was discussed as a possibility to solve this problem. Any such enclosure would have to be approved by the Building Official. Subsequent to the meeting, it was notel there exists an approximately 25-square-foot opening in the floor between the main floor and the basement. It is presently covered with a steel plate.
