BVII DTNTTC-
Attached are two sets of proposals for exiting the second floor of the building. We need several
code interpretations. Please review the following questions and call me as soon as possible.
LXTER1OI: STAUMAY PROTECTION
-3306k allows unprotected openings adjacent to and under the stair since this is only a two story
building. This means that the retail space; on the first floor do not need to hive protecti,d
openings.
EXTI BALCONY PROTECTION
- 3305h requires protected doors and openings at the balcony if there is only one exit but not if
there are two. Is there any difference in the required protection between Schemes A and B?
- 3305j requires an elevator iobby in a corridor exiting over 30 occupants, however in our case the
elevator is not in the building and does not connect interior spaces. We are assuming that a lobby
is not required and the opening does not need protection per 3306k.
tiMOKE REMOVAL
- 3301a: Scheme A is open on two sides and seems to satisfy this requirement. Does Scheme B
create a need to remove the smoke by additional venting or is the one open side acceplahle.?
WI IEELCI1AIR, 12-VACLiAT1ON
- We are proposing to use the exit balcony as our evacuation area and the openings within 20 feet
(horizontally) are protected as shown. Please note that there are windows in the retail below,
however the balcony cow:fruction is non-combustible therefore we are not proposing to protect
the retail shorefront,
FROM - --
GHr.!
Ml.1,1\110
The8umgardncl..- o_cta
Pages, including this Page• - FAXFD,>n-— `/ JARFDon: Pagel
