Expenditure Required $ -0- Account Number(s): Amount Budgeted $ -0- Additional Required $ -0- DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Port of Everett has nominated the Collins Building at 1210 West Marine View Drive for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1926, the building is significant because of its association with one of Everett's most important mills, the Hulbert Mill Company, and its distinctive post-and-beam construction which was once common but is virtually unknown today. The National Register nomination process requires the Everett Historical Commission and the Mayor to comment on the nomination. On April 12, 2006, the Everett Historical Commission held a public hearing and recommended approval of the nomination. This City Council action would authorize the Mayor to recommend the nomination also. The State of Washington Governor's Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will review the nomination on June 16, 2006. A copy of the complete National Register Nomination is available for review in the City Council office. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to recommend that the Collins Building be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 99
