A bed of pea gravel or manufacturer approved bedding
material should be used under the pipe. Dewatering of the trench should be expected. The lower sand
found in our exploration would be expected W "run" into the excavation if it is extensive in depth.
Special dewatering, such as wells or well points, may be naded in orda to comp!ete this excavation.
We recommend that test pit explorations be completed prior to starting pipe installation to determine if
dewatering weUs are nxded to complete the pipe insffiIletion.
Depending on t6e conditions exposed at the outer portion of the road embankment, some geogrid within
the fill may be needed. This will have to be determined based on conditions observed in the pipeline
excavation and the finel depth of fill in this erea. It may be that the pipe excavation will remove enough
materiel in the alignment causing the road section W be tltick enough W not need grid. Spalls may be
needed to establish a firm surface before plecing the road embaolent fill.
USE OF THIS REPORT
We have prepared this roport for use by the Tredway Corporation and the'v designers, for use in
designing a portion of this projxt T6is ropoR is based on limited exploration date end verification of
actual conditions in the field during construction will be required. Because of t6e expected variations in
subsurface cnditions,we do not consider the need for additional explorations nxded at this time. Our
analysis of the conditions is baud on engineering judgement and experience with these types of
materials. We have not completed a rigorous analysis of the soil pipe system. We do not consider that
appropriate for these conditions,as they ere highly variable in both sUength and spatially.
Within the limits of scope schedule and budget, we have strived to complete our services within the
accepted state of the oractice. No other conditions, expressed or implied should be understood.
000

NELSON-COWRETTE 8 ASSOC/ATES, INC.
