Addressing
homelessness is one such issue. Instead of creating our own separate plan for ending homelessness in 10
years as required by the State of Washington and the federal government, Everett has worked cooperatively
with Snohomish County, public housing authorities, non profit organizations, faith based organizations, and
the business community to develop a countywide plan. The causes of homelessness are numerous and
complex and need a coordinated countywide effort. It is highly desirable to prevent homelessness as the most
cost effective solution and to work towards providing more housing for low income families countywide.
Copies of the plan have been provided to the Mayor and City Council under separate cover.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt the Resolution expressing support for"EVERYONE AT HOME NOW" a strategy for ending
homelessness in Snohomish County, Washington by 2016
