I
g. Parking lots shall be surfaced in accordance with the requirements of Section
34.080 of this title. Where commercial or residential space is not provided on the ground
level adjacent to the sidewalk to accomplish this, features such as planters, decorative
grilles, or works of art shall be provided as approved by the City. The following specific
standards and considerations shall apply to parking structures:
a. No more than 120 feet of ground level building frontage can be occupied by
parking. Parking structures wider than 120 feet must incorporate other uses along the
street front to meet this requirement.
b. Small setbacks with terraced landscaping elements can be particularly effective in
softening the appearance of a parking garage.
c. Where the garage wall is built to the sidewalk edge, the facade shall use a
combination of artwork, grillwork, special building material treatment/design, and/or
other treatments as approved by the City that enhance the pedestrian environment. In
order to meet transparency requirements, garages can incorporate openings with
grillwork or other treatments to resemble windows.
d. Parking garage levels above the around floor shall use articulation treatments that
break up the massing of the garage and add visual interest.
S,..1.7.'_.I112f' 3 q4R +. _ ,.,-4,
:-<•1•0&. .,4_•1l/-....
„•2 .
