CHAPTER 3 <br /> Retail Demand <br /> Downtown Everett has experienced strong growth in several retail and service <br /> sectors. <br /> Over the next 20 years, downtown will continue to grow and reinforce its role as <br /> the urban retail center of Snohomish County. It should continue recent trends, <br /> with growth in all sectors as the surrounding trade area grows. It will build on its <br /> recent success as the entertainment enter of the county, with the stronger growth <br /> and increased market share in selected sectors, such as restaurants and <br /> entertainment, as well as specialty retail (including apparel and miscellaneous <br /> . retail) attractive to urban dwellers. Finally, there will be growth in food, <br /> • pharmacy, and convenience purchases by new residents in downtown. <br /> Projected retail growth over the 20 years is as follows: <br /> Square Feet <br /> Normal Growth 175,000 <br /> Increased Share 90,000 <br /> Resident Spending 110,000 <br /> Total 375,000 <br /> c''► <br /> 20 MAKERS architecture and urban design <br />
