Despite
what Commiasioner Forsgren had stated in an earlier coimaunique to
the Mayor, Oswald could not recall ever askiig that this improve-
mant be made for the Sheriff's Uepartment. He ft,rther stated
that he had issued an oral instruction sho.rtly after we raisecl
the issue that the parking strip was not to be used unti.l all the
issues were resolved. It was apparent, however, wheii Gene and I
walked over the looked at the asphalt section, that it had been
used and that the traffic was Ueating down the landscapiny on ither
side of the new asphalt pavement.
Under Sheriff Oswald statei that he was .oing back to his office
to write a formal directive that vehicles leaving property at the
property room were to deliver it from the loa.ding zone either in
the basement of the courthouse or from a parking stall un Wetsnore.
Fie further stated that he would be working with the appropriata
people at the County to see what they can do about gettinq the
asphalt removed and the landscapinq reinstalled. I asked him to
keep me informed as to developtnents and I, in turn, would kesp you
and tne N.ayor abreast of any problems that might develop.
LH:mc: 1/6
cc: A1 Hendricks
