I visited the subject site on September 280k 2009, to look at the existing <br />concrete stem wall that wa.; reportedly damaged during demolition of the existing chimney. <br />While on site you also directed my attention to a post and beam line located approximately five <br />feet from the south exterior wall in the basement adjacent to the chimney. <br />There is a crack in the existing concrete stem wall located in the area of the chimney. The <br />existing concrete stem wall s.opes significantly down to the crack from each side. <br />The post and beam line located five feet from the chimney is inadequate to support the current <br />code -required loads. <br />We recommend the following: <br />Remove and replace the concrete foundation, stem wall and post and beam line as shown on <br />Supplemental Details SD-1 through SD-7 (attached). <br />Refer to our construction drawings "Peterson Residence Chimney Repair', dated August 31. 2009 for additional <br />information. <br />Please call if you have any questions. <br />of rcy M.
