A D OWL
ENGINEERS
A Division of DOWL, Incorporated
April 4, 1991
W.O. #S11100-13
Mr. Gordon Witcher
Department of Public Works
City of Everett
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
Re: Dunlap Towing,Everett Woodchip Facility
Dear Mr. Witcher:
Attached are two copies of the plan set for the above referenced project. The City review
comments of March, 1991 have been incorporated. Also attached is a shop drawing of the
Fog Tite No. 1 Meter Box which has been called out to hold the backwater prevention
valve assembly.
The oil/water separator inlet control calculations are included herein. In sizing the
oil/water separator inlet control the tailwater effect from the pond and vault were
considered. The maximum flow rate will be achieved when the stormwater backs up in
the inlet to the overflow spillway crest elevation. The 6-inch inflow pipe to the vault acts
as an orifice with a design head. By design the vault maintains a permanent pool of
water, so the_pipe_connecting the concrete inlet to the oil/water separator vault will have
standing water. The hydraulic head discussed in the attached calculations is sufficient to
provide proper flow capacity.
The plan set containing the City's review comments is also attached.
If you have any questions, please call me at 869-2670.
Sincerely,
DOWL Engineers, Inc.
or
Jeff Dendy, P.E.
Project Engineer
Attachments
CC: Jay King, Dunlap Towing
JD/iml
15263 NE 90TH STREET • REDMOND • WASHINGTON • 98052-3523 • 206 / 869-2670
