airor
PL/BL/C WORKS
CO '
ile
May 12, 1999
Jay Dally,Service Manager
Chevrolet of Everett
7300 Evergreen Way
Everett,WA 98203
Dear Mr.Daily;
As I wrote in my March 12th letter, while helping you develop a solution to car washwater disposal on your
site, the City determined that a significant portion of your site's stormwater runoff discharges to the City's
sanitary sewer system. Further investigation has determined that all runoff entering the three catch basins
indicated on the enclosed map drains to the sanitary sewer-in violation of City codes and ordinances. To
correct the situation, the outlets from these three catch basins must be modified to prevent stormwater
runoff from entering the sanitary sewer. As I specified in my previous letter, this work must be completed
by October l'of this year. A copy of my previous letter is attached for your reference.
The appropriate discharge of car wash water remains an issue on your site. For the time being, until their
outlets are re-routed,it is acceptable for cars to be washed in any area that drains to one the three indicated
catch basins. Wash water draining to any other structure on the site discharges directly to Pigeon Creek#1,
which is a violation of City ordinance.
When the basin outlets are re-routed,you will need to create a designated wash area in order to wash cars
on your site. Soapy wash water must discharge to the sanitary sewer, and not to Pigeon Creek#1. Given
that the three indicated catch basins currently discharge to the sanitary sewer, it may be possible to use one
of them to develop a wash area. Please contact Mike Papa at 257-8800 to further discuss the car-washing
options on your site and the modifications that would be necessary to create an acceptable wash area.
Sincere ,
-Ai
0r
- eZ" . ,PE
As - "ngineer
Attachments
CC: Clair Olivers,Public Works Director
Dari Mathias,PE,Principal Engineer
Mike Papa,Engineering Technician Enclosure
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-8882
