OPOSbmi <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4841 <br /> A RESOLUTION INCREASING THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> OF THE EVERETT HOUSING AUTHORITY <br /> Whereas,the City of Everett by Resolution No. 4490 created the Everett Housing Authority in <br /> 1939; and <br /> Whereas,the Everett Housing Authority consists of five(5) commissioners pursuant to RCW <br /> 35.82.040; and <br /> Whereas,the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has adopted a <br /> regulation which requires housing authorities receiving federal funds to have on its board of <br /> directors or similar governing body a member who is directly assisted by the public housing <br /> agency; and <br /> Whereas,the Washington State Legislature during the 1999 legislative session enacted an <br /> amendment to RCW 35.82.040 allowing the increase of the number of commissioners of a <br /> housing authority to six (6) so as to comply with the federal regulation. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,it is hereby resolved: <br /> That the number of commissioners of the Everett Housing Authority is hereby increased to six <br /> (6). Position No. 6 shall be filled by a person who is a direct recipient of assistance from the <br /> Everett Housing Authority. The term of the position shall be for the period of five years or until <br /> such time as that commissioner no longer receives direct assistance from the Everett Housing <br /> Authority,whichever first occurs. The first term will end October 6, 2004. Appointment shall <br /> be made by the Mayor of the city of Everett with confirmation of the appointment by the Everett <br /> City Council.
