i:Krr� • 6 t• j RESOLUTION NO. 497 2 A RESOLUTION providing for the allocation and distribution of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds for the year 2001. WHEREAS, the City of Everett has imposed and collects annually a tax on Hotel and Motel accommodations; and WHEREAS,•the Revised Code of the State of Washington provides guidance and direction as to the use of these funds to promote tourism through community attractions and entertainment events;and WHEREAS, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee reviewed proposed uses of funds and accepted the proposed uses of the Hotel/Motel tax receipts set forth below; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council's Finance Committee has been charged with recommending to the full Council the use of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds, and recommends the uses set forth below; and WHEREAS, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and the Everett City Council Finance Committee have recommended funding support of a multi-purpose facility evaluation, including preliminary project analysis which encompasses studies of economic viability, design concepts, site selection, and on-site inspection of similar facilities, all in preparation for making a final feasibility recommendation to the Everett City Council; and WHEREAS, in the future, if the arena project is approved, hotel/motel tax receipts would be used to undertake a long-range selection and booking process to assure a full season of shows and activities when the facility opens. Funds could also be directed toward a variety of other start-up activities.and management costs; and • WHEREAS, the Everett and Snohomish County Hotel/Motel Managers Association has expressed strong support for the development of a multi-purpose arena facility; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett that the following distribution of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds be made in concert with the 2001 Budget of the City of Everett.
